Hyperpigmentation
It is a common, usually harmless condition in which patches of skin are darker than the surrounding skin. It occurs when special cells in the skin make too much of the pigment called melanin. Hyperpigmentation may appear as freckles, age spots, or larger areas of darkened skin. Hyperpigmentation affects people of all skin types.

Types of Hyperpigmentation

1. Age Spots

3. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
Symptoms:
  • Spots or patches of darkened skin that appear after an inflammatory skin condition, such as acne or eczema.
  • It will occur anywhere in the body.
  • People have an inflammation or an injury in the skin.
  • Sun spots are more common in areas with frequent sun exposure, including the face, arms and legs.
